Rehab #1
June 02, 2020
Surgery was a success one inguinal hernia repair, thanks Doc. I am now 2 weeks post-surgery; the first 7 days were pretty damn painful and even short walks were painful and making me dizzy. Day 8 I was able to go on my first short dog walk, it was slow and felt like a marathon! Day 10 and I can walk for an hour or so just a little slower than I would like, flexibility is returning too, I can pick up my socks now!
I have been told no resistance training until I hit 6 weeks post-surgery but the feeling of soft flabby muscles is somewhat distressing, so I will begin extremely light arm and shoulder work with the lightest bands I own (Yellow 0.5 so around 1kg to 7kg). I know this will very likely do nothing for me but I think it’ll make me feel better to know I did something.
As for actual goals directly related to rehab it will be continued ROM work for now, working on being able to take a ½ kneel followed by trunk rotation. Once full ROM has been regained, I will begin extremely light loading. Seeing the surgeon at the end of the month will hopefully greenlight further activities.
